Equinix Fabric™ with Microsoft ExpressRoute
de Equinix
Equinix Fabric is an easy-to-use, high-performance virtual multicloud routing service.
Equinix Fabric is an advanced interconnection solution that, when combined with Azure ExpressRoute™, enables seamless, on-demand, private connectivity to Microsoft Azure. Designed for agility and scale, Equinix Fabric allows enterprises to provision virtual connections in minutes through a single port, helping optimize application performance, improve user experience, and increase productivity for workloads running on Azure.
Equinix is the largest Azure ExpressRoute partner, offering local access in 36 metro markets and remote connectivity from 59 Equinix Fabric locations worldwide. This global reach enables organizations to extend their Azure deployments across regions with consistent performance, high reliability, and enhanced security.
A key feature of Equinix Fabric is Fabric Cloud Router (FCR), a fully virtual Layer 3 routing service that simplifies hybrid and multicloud networking without requiring physical infrastructure. FCR enables private, software-defined routing between Azure, other cloud platforms, and on-premises environments through Equinix’s global interconnection platform. With multiple interconnected metros in the U.S. and low-latency access to major cloud providers, FCR allows customers to rapidly establish connectivity where and when it is needed. Fabric Cloud Router centralizes routing and eliminates the need to deploy and manage hardware routers, reducing operational overhead while increasing scalability and agility. Customers can manage traffic flows across environments through a single, cloud-based service, simplifying network architecture and accelerating time to value.
Key Benefits of Fabric Cloud Router include:
Fast Multicloud Connections: Quickly set up private, low-latency connections between public clouds in minutes.
High Performance and Reliability: Resilient, high-speed data routing with built-in redundancy.
Cost-Effective Multicloud Management: Simplify multicloud connectivity at reduced costs with just a few clicks.
By combining Equinix Fabric, Fabric Cloud Router, and Azure ExpressRoute, organizations gain a secure, flexible, and scalable foundation for cloud migration, disaster recovery, application modernization, and data-intensive workloads across a globally connected digital infrastructure.
FCR Plans and Features
Basic Plan: Supports up to 250 IPv4 routes and 50 IPv6 routes with upto 1Gbps connections.
Standard Plan: Supports up to 1,000 IPv4 and 100 IPv6 routes with upto 10 Gbps connections.
Advanced Plan: Supports up to 4,000 IPv4 and 250 IPv6 routes with upto 100 Gbps connections.
Fabric Use Cases
Cloud Migrations
Move workloads and data between clouds while benefiting from the security, predictability and performance of private network connectivity. Utilizing private connectivity also allows you to take advantage of lower data egress fees from the public cloud providers compared to internet connectivity.
Cloud-to-Cloud Networking Between Public Clouds
Improve network performance and cut costs with private, localized routing; reducing latency and egress fees with no additional hardware required. Ideal when you are running cloud applications that require data transfer between cloud providers or need to share data between applications running in different public clouds. You can route traffic directly rather than through the nearest data center and bypass the public internet for better reliability and security, and reduce egress fees
Sovereignty & Compliance
Meet regulatory, residency, and compliance requirements by keeping data traffic private and regional. Equinix’s global footprint enables organizations to connect to Azure in-region while maintaining compliance.
Data-Intensive Azure Workloads
Support AI/ML, analytics, and large-scale data processing workloads with consistent performance. Equinix Fabric provides low-latency private connectivity from performance-dense locations to Azure regions, enabling better outcomes for data-driven workloads.
Metro Availability
A FCR purchased through the Azure Marketplace can currently be deployed in any of our 47 international Metros globally.
Multi-Metro deployment would require IP-WAN connections. If you need any offers not available publicly such as virtual connections greater than 10Gbps, IP-WAN connections, fabric ports or remote ports or any other Equinix product, please engage in a private offer by contacting us at azure-mppo@equinix.com.
