Vowltage brings electricity and energy market data into Microsoft Excel
Vowltage brings electricity and energy market data into Microsoft Excel — starting with Alberta's wholesale market, operated by the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO). Pull pool
prices, system marginal price, supply and demand, generation mix, forecasts, outages, and settlement data into your workbook in seconds — with weather data, retail data, and more
markets on the way.
Built for energy traders, market analysts, schedulers, and researchers who live in Excel, Vowltage combines a guided task pane, one-click ribbon commands, and native Excel custom
functions so you can build models on always-current AESO data.
What you can do
- Task pane & ribbon — Fetch any AESO dataset through simple forms: pool price, SMP, current supply/demand, generation, actual/forecast, peak load, wind & solar
forecasts, merit order, metered volume, operating reserve, unit commitment, outages, interties, asset lists, and settlement.
- Custom functions — Use formulas like =VOWLTAGE.POOL_PRICE() and =VOWLTAGE.SMP() to pull market data straight into cells, with sorting, filtering, and column selection.
- Live data — Streaming custom functions auto-refresh values on an interval so dashboards stay current.
- Automations & alerts — Schedule automatic workbook refresh jobs and get notified when prices or other values cross thresholds you set.
Pricing
Vowltage is free to install and includes a free account with core data access. Pro and Ultimate subscriptions unlock additional features — price and value alerts, scheduled
automated refresh jobs, and streaming / live auto-refreshing custom functions. Subscriptions are billed through Vowltage via Stripe; see vowltage.com for current plans and
pricing.
Data is sourced from AESO public APIs. Vowltage never reads or transmits your spreadsheet contents — it only writes the market data you request.
