Private AI Chat Server on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

door ALSOURI LLC

Deploy a private AI chat server with Open WebUI and Ollama on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Private AI Chat Server on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Private AI Chat Server is a ready-to-use Azure virtual machine image designed to help teams deploy a self-hosted AI chat environment quickly and consistently. It combines Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Docker, Open WebUI, and Ollama into a clean server-based deployment that can be launched on Azure without manually assembling the stack.

What is this?

This offer provides a preconfigured private AI chat server. Open WebUI delivers a browser-based chat interface, while Ollama provides the local model runtime. The VM is configured so that the chat interface is available through the web UI, while the Ollama backend is bound locally for improved security.

No large language model is preloaded in this image. After deployment, customers can choose and pull the Ollama-compatible model that best fits their needs, VM size, licensing requirements, and performance expectations.

What problem does it solve?

Building a private AI chat environment manually can involve installing Docker, configuring containers, exposing the correct ports, securing the model backend, setting firewall rules, and ensuring the service starts correctly after reboot. This image reduces that setup work by providing a tested baseline that is ready for configuration and model selection after deployment.

It is especially useful when teams want to experiment with self-hosted AI chat without immediately committing to a larger platform, Kubernetes deployment, or complex enterprise architecture.

Who is it for?

  • Developers who want a quick private AI chat environment on Azure
  • IT administrators testing self-hosted AI options
  • Consultants and managed service providers building AI proof-of-concepts
  • Small teams exploring local LLM workflows
  • Labs, training environments, and internal innovation projects

Why use this image?

  • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base operating system
  • Open WebUI preconfigured for browser-based AI chat
  • Ollama installed as the local model runtime
  • Docker Compose based deployment for easier service management
  • Systemd service included for startup after reboot
  • Ollama backend bound to localhost rather than exposed publicly
  • Firewall configuration prepared for a cleaner Azure VM deployment
  • No preloaded model, giving customers full control over model choice

Typical use cases

  • Private AI chat proof-of-concept
  • Internal AI assistant testing
  • Developer experimentation with Ollama models
  • Training and lab environments
  • Base image for future AI workflow or RAG deployments

Support

ALSOURI LLC provides support for deployment guidance, first-run configuration, service checks, and general VM usage related to this image. Support includes help with accessing the Open WebUI interface, verifying Docker services, reviewing firewall configuration, and selecting an appropriate Ollama-compatible model for your VM size.

Customers remain responsible for Azure infrastructure costs, VM sizing, model licensing, data governance, and any additional configuration required for production environments.

Important note

This image does not include a preloaded LLM model. After deployment, connect to the VM and pull your chosen model using Ollama. Select a model appropriate for your VM size and performance requirements.
