What's new in 5.1

• Expand Batch with Mappings — expand a whole filter list at once and get a 2-column "match / source" mapping on the clipboard, ready to paste into Excel.
• Single-word exact-mode entries now auto-expand to every value containing that token.
• Selectable loading indicator (text, spinner, or off); also covers slow Add/Expand operations.
• Explicit "no matches" warnings; Add no longer silently swallows fuzzy typos.
• Faster fuzzy at scale; index rebuilds when the bound column changes mid-session.

This slicer brings advanced autocomplete search to Power BI. Unlike standard slicers, it predicts matches as you type, supports fuzzy matching, and lets users paste or combine multiple search terms to quickly filter large text fields — type a few letters of an identifier, name, code, or phrase, and matching values can be instantly selected as report filters.

Searches use contains (partial) matching by default, with exact matching as an option. Users can combine multiple search terms, mix AND vs. OR logic, leverage fuzzy matching (double metaphone and other algorithms), and freely copy and paste values in and out. Best suited to identifiers, codes, names, addresses, and other modest-length text fields.

There are a wide variety of options, including:

• Use presets to apply settings based on use cases (e.g., addresses, names, SKUs)
• Single- or multi-value selection
• Case-, diacritic-, punctuation-, whitespace-, and spelling-insensitive (fuzzy) matching
• Multiple fuzzy algorithms (including double metaphone)
• Toggle between contains and exact matching
• Display secondary values in the suggestion list to support more confident selection
• Expand matches: convert partial-match text into actual matched values, exportable (comma- or line-delimited) for pasting into other tools
• Paste lists directly from Excel, email, or other sources into the filter area
• Display chosen values as text or as pills when multiple selections are enabled
• Optionally merge terms with prefixes for "and", "or", and "not"
• Tool-tip and drill-through support for exact-match pills
• Optional utility buttons: reset, include/exclude blanks, copy filtered values, and more
• Handles large datasets efficiently with loading feedback (tested with millions of rows)
• Overlay the suggestion list over other visuals on a page (see our sample!)
• Multi-language support

The visual is free for individual use in Power BI Desktop. For shared reports (Power BI Service), per-viewer licensing is available through AppSource (AppSource Purchase Guide), and organizational licensing is available for larger audiences.
