Open WebUI on Azure: self-hosted, extensible AI interface for Ollama and OpenAI APIs.
Description:
Deploy a ready-to-use Open WebUI environment on Microsoft Azure, powered by Ubuntu and integrated with Ollama for local AI model serving. This virtual machine offer is designed to help users quickly launch a browser-based AI chat interface without manually installing Open WebUI or Ollama after deployment.
The image includes Open WebUI installed and configured as a system service, with the web interface available on port 8080. Ollama is also installed and enabled as a local service on the virtual machine, allowing Open WebUI to connect to Ollama through the local endpoint http://127.0.0.1:11434. This provides a convenient foundation for running and managing compatible local AI models directly from the deployed server.
This offer is suitable for development, testing, demonstrations, internal AI tools, and self-managed AI interface deployments. After the VM is deployed, users can access the Open WebUI interface from a browser using the public IP address of the virtual machine and port 8080, provided that the required Azure Network Security Group rules are configured.
Ollama is installed locally on the VM, and users can choose which supported models to pull and run based on their workload, storage capacity, memory, CPU, and GPU availability. Larger models may require larger VM sizes with more compute resources.
For security, Ollama is intended to run locally on the virtual machine and should not be exposed directly to the public internet. Open WebUI acts as the browser-based interface for interacting with the local Ollama service.
Important note: This offer provides a preconfigured Azure virtual machine image that includes Ubuntu, Open WebUI, and Ollama components for user convenience. We are not the owner, developer, or official vendor of Ubuntu, Open WebUI, Ollama, or their related open-source projects. Support for this offer is limited to the deployment configuration and image setup provided by the publisher. Vendor-level support for the underlying operating system or third-party applications is not included.
With this offer, users can save setup time and deploy an Open WebUI and Ollama-based environment on Azure more quickly, while retaining full control over the virtual machine, selected models, and runtime configuration.
