This is a minimal server installation option that is available on Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2016. This installation option does not include the standard user interface and is managed using the command line, Windows PowerShell, or remote tools.

This option provides a server environment with functionality scaled back to core server features. Due to features being limited, it has reduced servicing and management requirements, attack surface, disk and memory usage.
