General Validation

General Validation helps data teams verify that source and target datasets reconcile across Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric workflows.

Create Dataset Pairs, define reusable validation tests, and review run status and evidence in a shared web application. Validate migrations and pipeline changes, investigate failed checks, and retain evidence in your Azure environment.

General Validation hosts the application and its control plane in Azure. Your customer-owned execution environment runs validation. Customer records, credentials, exact result values, and row evidence remain in your environment. The hosted service stores configuration, schemas, run status, diagnostics, and bounded result metadata. Authorized browsers retrieve evidence directly from customer storage.

Choose an annual plan for 5, 10, or 25 active Dataset Pairs at USD 6,000, USD 12,000, or USD 20,000 respectively, paid upfront for a one-year term. A Dataset Pair is one configured source-to-target comparison. Paid plans limit the number of active Pairs, with no lifetime Pair creation limit while the subscription is active. All plans use the same application and validation workflow.

An Azure subscription and permission to connect or provision a customer execution environment are required. Organization access uses Microsoft work or school accounts. Supported connectors and schema types are documented in the application. Customer Azure compute and storage charges are separate from the software subscription.
