Production ready FreePBX on hardened Debian OS: extensions, voicemail, IVR, queues and trunks managed in your browser

Deploy a Complete Business Phone System on Microsoft Azure

Deploy a complete business phone system on Microsoft Azure in minutes: FreePBX on hardened Debian, with extensions, voicemail, IVR menus, ring groups, queues and SIP trunks all managed from a web browser. Built for businesses, IT providers and managed service providers (MSPs) who want a full-featured PBX they own, without per-user monthly subscription pricing and without the assembly and security work that stands between a stock installation and something safe to run in production. The Asterisk engine is pre-tuned, the administrative interface arrives locked down, and SIP fraud protections are enabled before the first call.

What You Get Out of the Box

  • FreePBX 17 Open Source Edition on Debian, the official platform pairing, with the current Asterisk LTS release.
  • User Control Panel (UCP) available for end users, with its exposure documented separately from the administrative interface.
  • Ready for one-click subscription to Sangoma support services.

Common Use Cases

  • Business Phone System – Replace ageing on-premises PBX hardware or per-seat hosted subscriptions with a system you own and control.
  • MSP Client Deployments – Deploy one hardened image per customer with identical, repeatable configurations every time.
  • Multi-Site Businesses – Connect extensions across multiple offices and remote workers through a single PBX.

Access to Commercial Modules

This image includes the FreePBX Open Source Edition only. Sangoma's commercial modules are licensed separately on a per-deployment basis by Sangoma and are not included, bundled or resold with this image. If you purchase commercial modules, they can be installed through the standard FreePBX Module Administration interface using your own Sangoma licence.

Sizing Guidance

FreePBX has modest hardware requirements for voice services, but call recording, conferencing and high numbers of concurrent calls increase CPU, memory and storage requirements.

  • Small office (up to approximately 20 extensions): Standard_B2s (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM)
  • Typical business (up to approximately 75 extensions with moderate call volume): Standard_D2s_v5 (2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM)
  • Higher concurrency, call recording or conferencing: Standard_D4s_v5 (4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM)
