Share-It

Share-It is a Microsoft Teams-based application designed to simplify and streamline the sharing of laboratory animals and tissues within institutions. Built on familiar and widely adopted Teams infrastructure, the app offers an easy-to-install and implement solution, reducing administrative overhead while promoting ethical and efficient resource use.

Developed by Share-it Project team, it incorporates practices already operating at the Universities of Cardiff, Bristol, Cambridge, Imperial College London (UK), and RWTH Aachen (Germany). Share-It fosters transparency and collaboration in biomedical research, aligning with the principles of reduction and refinement in animal studies.

Key Features

• Guideline Templates: Pre-set sharing policy templates for animals and tissues, fully customisable to institutional needs.

• User Documentation powered with AI assistance: Clear AI guidance for administrators and users to ensure smooth onboarding and sustained use. Include frequently updated FAQs and additional online resources (in development).

• Ethical Frameworks (in development; expected early 2026): Built-in ethical sharing principles to align institutional practices with evolving standards.

Excel-Powered Functionality for collaboration. A robust, pre-populated Excel sheet that:

o Allows full customisation for institutional specialisation.

o Enables blocking of specific strains from sharing.

o Maintains familiar Excel capabilities within Teams.

• Quick Setup: Simple integration into existing Teams environments. Your company Microsoft Teams Admin approval required.

• Minimal Maintenance: Requires only 1–2 administrator accounts for management and minimal time investment needed for upkeep.

• Highly Accessible: No cost to institutions.

• Flexible & Scalable: Easily tailored to suit institutions of all sizes and specialisms.
