ThePoint Employee Directory
par ThePoint
A searchable people directory for your SharePoint intranet - find colleagues via search and filters.
ThePoint Employee Directory turns your Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) into a beautiful, searchable people directory, directly on your SharePoint intranet. Everyone in the company is one search away - find colleagues, discover who has the skills you need, see their org context, and connect in a click.
Key features:
- Instant search across name, job title, department, office, city and skills, with matching skills highlighted
- Skills from each person's Microsoft 365 profile shown on every card, with tinted or outlined chips
- Find an expert: type or pick skills and see colleagues ranked by how many they have
- Skills filter that matches any or all of the chosen skills
- Choice of a top filter bar or a sidebar, with live counts, removable filter tokens and a city and office tree
- Smart suggestions when a search returns few results, such as removing a filter or matching any skill
- Alphabetical A to Z index by surname or first name
- Seven layouts: portrait cards, compact cards, horizontal cards, list, detailed list, sortable columns and Find an expert, with a view switcher
- Profiles showing skills (select one to see everyone who shares it), manager and direct reports
- Shareable links that keep the search, filters and open profile
- New-starter badging for joiners within a configurable look-back window
- One-click email, plus chat or call via Microsoft Teams deep links
- CSV export of the filtered results, including skills
- Scope the directory to specific groups or departments, and exclude service accounts
- Configurable card shapes, accent colour and site-theme awareness with matching fonts
- Mobile-ready responsive design that adapts to any SharePoint section layout
Components included: this package contains a single SharePoint Framework (SPFx) client-side web part, provisioned with one capability - SharePoint Web Part. It does not include any Microsoft Teams components or app. The web part requests the Microsoft Graph User.Read.All permission to read tenant user profiles (name, photo, department, manager, contact details and skills) so the directory has data to display, and GroupMember.Read.All, used only when the directory is scoped to specific groups. Skills are read from the Microsoft 365 profile through SharePoint people search, which needs no additional permission; newly added skills can take up to 24 hours to appear.
Licensing: a paid licence key is required for full functionality. The app runs in trial mode without a licence key; the trial banner shows above the web part and stays until a valid licence key is entered.
