Windmill Support

Open a direct conversation with Windmill engineers from your Teams channel
Windmill Support brings Windmill's engineering support team directly into Microsoft Teams, so customers can ask for help in the same channel where their team already collaborates — no separate portal, ticket queue, or email thread.
Designed for team-wide collaborative support
Windmill Support installs in a Teams channel or group chat so the whole team benefits from a single connection, not just one user:
- Any channel member can @-mention the bot to ask Windmill engineers a question. No per-user install or sign-in.
- The question, the engineer's reply, and any follow-up are visible to everyone in the channel, so colleagues can chime in with context, share workarounds, and confirm a fix worked — all in the same thread.
- Past support threads stay in the channel as a searchable team knowledge base; new members can scroll back to find prior answers.
- Multiple team members can collaborate inside one thread (sharing screenshots, adding context, confirming resolution) without re-explaining to each other.
There is no personal-scope variant by design — keeping support in your team's shared channel is the whole point.
Who it's for
Customers on a Windmill Enterprise Edition subscription whose engineering, data, or platform teams already collaborate in Microsoft Teams. New to Windmill? Start a free trial from https://www.windmill.dev/pricing.
How it works
- An administrator on your Windmill account generates a one-time 6-digit link code from the Windmill customer dashboard.
- The administrator adds Windmill Support to a Teams channel, pastes the code in that channel, and the bot confirms the link within seconds. The connection then serves the whole channel — anyone in it can use the bot.
- Any Teams message in the channel that @-mentions Windmill Support is forwarded to our engineers as a private thread on our side.
- Replies from our engineers come back into the same Teams thread, visible to every channel member.
Bot commands
- "@Windmill Support help" — in-channel refresher on what we see and how to share files.
- "@Windmill Support file" — one-time secure upload link for logs, screenshots, or repros (link expires in 15 minutes, single-use).
Privacy
- Only messages where you @-mention Windmill Support are forwarded. Plain channel chatter without an @-mention stays private to your team.
- We do not access Microsoft Graph or any other Microsoft 365 data beyond what Bot Framework provides (basic profile + conversation reference).
Account dependency
Requires an active Windmill account. Without one, the bot has nothing to connect to. Sign up or start a free Enterprise Edition trial at https://www.windmill.dev/pricing.
Limitations
- The bot only forwards messages that @-mention Windmill Support. Other channel messages are ignored.
- File attachments larger than 25 MB are skipped; the bot tells you in-channel when that happens.
- One Teams channel links to one Windmill account at a time. Disconnect anytime; forwarding stops immediately.
