Friday add-in for Outlook syncs emails to matters, documents and billable activities.
Friday for Outlook helps law firms connect inbound and outbound emails to Friday Legal matters without duplicate data entry.
From the task pane, users can search matters, associate or dissociate emails, choose storage mode (single email, full thread, attachments only), rename attachments, and request PDF copies when needed.
In compose mode, the add-in provides matter merge fields, email templates, and smart subject suggestions.
LaunchEvents: when the user sends an email from a draft where a Friday matter was selected in the task pane, the OnMessageSend event runs in the background to associate the message to the matter, archive to Drive, finalize the matter timer, and apply the Outlook "Friday Legal" category.
Smart Alerts: during send, Outlook may show a processing notification with "Send anyway" or "Don't send" (PromptUser mode) while Friday completes these actions. No content is inserted into the subject or body; only matter metadata (matter ID, target folder, Drive attachment references) is sent to the Friday Legal API. Friday never permanently blocks sending.
Authentication supports Microsoft 365 SSO, Microsoft OAuth, and an email/password fallback.
Installation is free. An active Friday Legal subscription is required to use business features.
