Free version of the Calendar Popup visual with a cat hanging around

Calendar Popup | Free Version is a date range picker custom visual for Microsoft Power BI. It replaces the standard slicer with a compact trigger button that, when clicked, expands into a full-month calendar popup. Users select a start and end date — or pick from a preset list — and the chosen range is pushed to the report as an advanced date filter. Intended audience ----------------- Report developers and BI analysts building Microsoft Power BI dashboards who need a clear, space-efficient, customizable date range filter. Useful for executive dashboards, finance and sales reports, operations monitoring, and any report where a small trigger button needs to expand into a richer date picker on demand. Value proposition ----------------- - Save space on dense report pages — the closed trigger occupies a single line; the calendar only appears when needed. - Provide a familiar calendar UI for end users (start date, end date, in-range highlight, today highlight) rather than relying on the default Power BI date slider. - Offer 18 built-in date presets including fiscal-year-aware presets (This Fiscal Year, Last Fiscal Year), week presets (Sun-Sat and Mon-Sun variants), and "All Dates Available" sourced from the bound column. - Support side-by-side period comparison via a second filter on a duplicate calendar table — for "this month vs. last month", "this year vs. last year", or any custom pairing the report developer wires up in DAX. - Offer two display modes: an in-canvas popup, or a Power BI modal dialog ("New Window Mode") that floats above all other visuals and is configurable in width and height. - Fully customizable: trigger button typography, padding, border, background, position of the chevron; calendar header and day cell typography; selection and in-range colors; comparison colors; Apply button label. - Bookmarks-compatible: selected ranges persist across saved bookmarks and personal bookmarks. Key features ------------ - Date range selection through a popup calendar grid with month navigation. - 18 preset ranges, individually toggleable in the formatting pane. - Configurable default opening (which preset is applied when the report opens). - Fiscal year configuration (start month and start day, 1-12 and 1-31). - Optional comparison filter targeting a duplicate calendar table and date column. - "Auto Apply" mode — the filter is applied as soon as both endpoints are picked, no Apply button. - "New Window Mode" — open the calendar as a Power BI dialog instead of an in-canvas popup. - Customizable apply-button label (English, French, or any localized text). - English (en-US) and French (fr-FR) localization out of the box. - Goum is a cat sitting on the trigger, she walks down to the apply surface when the calendar opens; the cat is hidden in the Pro version of the offer. Prerequisites and requirements ------------------------------ - A Power BI report with at least one date or datetime column available in the data model. - For the optional Comparison feature, a duplicate calendar table (a second table with a date column covering the same range as your primary calendar) must exist in the model. Connecting the duplicate table to the fact table with inactive relationships and writing DAX measures using USERELATIONSHIP and REMOVEFILTERS is recommended; documentation and example DAX patterns are provided. - Power BI tenant must allow custom visuals from AppSource (Tenant admin setting "Allow visuals created using the Power BI SDK"). Conditions --------------------------------------- - The free version of this offer ("Calendar Popup With Goum") includes a small "Free version" banner inside the calendar popup and a pixel-art cat (Goum) sitting on the trigger. The paid Pro version of the offer ("Calendar Popup") removes both. All other features are identical.
