RadialSpectrum — Radial, Radial Bar & Circular Chart for Power BI
RadialSpectrum is a modern radial visualization suite for Microsoft Power BI, delivering three distinct chart types — Radial, Radial Bar, and Circular Chart — in a single certified visual. Designed for analysts and business users who need compact, visually engaging charts without sacrificing analytical depth, RadialSpectrum combines powerful formatting controls with a clean, data-first design.
Whether you are building a KPI scorecard, tracking progress against a goal, or comparing multiple categories in a tight report layout, RadialSpectrum gives you the flexibility and polish to do it right — without custom code or complex workarounds.
Three Chart Types in One Visual
Radial. Renders your measure as proportional slices around a circle — ideal for category share and contribution analysis. Four style variants are available: Classic, Exploded, Segmented, and Rounded Radial Burst. Configurable inner radius, slice spacing, rotation, and chart scale give you full control over the layout.
Radial Bar. Renders each category as a radial arc whose length reflects the measure value — perfect for KPI tracking and goal attainment displays. Choose from 14 visual styles (Classic, Neon Glow, Soft Glass, 3D Extruded, Heatmap Intensity, Gradient Metallic, and more) and 10 shape variants (Rounded Capsule, Tapered, Arrow Tip, Diamond End, and others). Thickness Mode can be set to Fixed or Value-Based.
Circular Chart. Places each category on its own arc layer for multi-category comparison in a compact footprint. Radial Thickness and Radial Gap control layer weight and spacing independently.
Key Features
- 14 Radial Bar Visual Styles. From analytical (Classic, Layered, Capsule Rounded) to presentation-ready (Neon Glow, Soft Glass, Glass Reflection, 3D Extruded) — pick the style that fits your report audience.
- 10 Radial Bar Shape Variants. Rounded Capsule, Tapered, Reverse Tapered, Arrow Tip, Diamond End, Cut Edge, Double Stroke Ring, Hollow Arc, Thick-to-Thin Gradient Width, and Segmented Blocks.
- 15 Color Palettes. Theme, Pastel, Warm, Cool, Tableau 10, Okabe-Ito, Viridis, Plasma, Magma, Inferno, and four Spectrum variants — plus a Single Color override and per-segment custom color assignments.
- Flexible Labels. Default and Callout styles with leader lines, inside/outside placement, five content modes (Value, Percent, Category, Category + Value, Category + Percent), and automatic overlap avoidance. Show labels on hover only to declutter dense charts.
- Center Label. Display a dynamic total or a custom text caption in the hollow center of any chart — a standard pattern for KPI tiles.
- Radial Track. An optional background arc in Filled or Lines mode behind Radial Bar and Circular Chart types, giving the eye a reference for arc length.
- Custom Tooltip. Fully styled with Light and Dark themes, configurable title and body fonts, number formats, border, width, and padding — replacing the default Power BI tooltip wherever greater control is needed.
- Flexible Legend. Nine fixed positions, horizontal and vertical layout, optional title, value and percent display, configurable display units and decimals, and optional pill background.
- Chart Title and Header Block. A single-line chart title and a separate multi-line header (title + subtitle + value) with independent font sizes, colors, and display unit controls per element.
- Drilldown. When both the Category and Legend data roles are populated, users can navigate between the two levels using the standard Power BI drill controls — drill up, drill down, and expand to next level.
- Animated Render. Configurable entry animation duration and stagger. Disable animation for exports or large datasets.
- Accessibility. Full keyboard navigation (Tab, Enter, Space), screen reader support via ARIA attributes, automatic high-contrast theme fallback, and color-blind-friendly palette options (Okabe-Ito, Tableau 10).
- Privacy and Security. The visual makes no external HTTP or WebSocket calls. All rendering, label layout, animation, and tooltip logic run entirely client-side inside the Power BI sandbox. No user data or telemetry is transmitted to any third party. Row-level security is fully honored.
Interactions with Other Visuals
Cross-filtering, cross-highlighting, multi-select (Ctrl/Cmd+click), context menu (Drill through, Include/Exclude, Show as table), bookmark capture, and focus mode are all supported natively — RadialSpectrum behaves exactly like a first-class Power BI visual.
Performance
For best results, keep the category count between 3 and 20. Beyond that range, apply page-level or visual-level filters to maintain label
