Apache Camel Karavan is an open source visual integration designer and toolkit for Apache Camel. It gives you a browser based canvas to design, build and run enterprise integration patterns (EIP) and Kamelet based routes without hand writing boilerplate. You lay out each route visually - sources, processors, enrichers and sinks - edit any node's settings in a side panel, and switch between the visual designer and the generated Camel YAML at any time. Karavan then builds and runs each integration as its own container, so you go from a diagram to a running integration in minutes. It is widely used to prototype integrations, standardize Camel route development across a team, and manage the full design, build and run lifecycle from one web interface.

The cloudimg image runs the official Apache Camel Karavan 4.18.1 container together with its PostgreSQL state store as a Docker Compose stack managed by systemd, and installs Docker Engine so Karavan's built in runner can build and run integrations as containers on the VM. Because Karavan's standalone sign in ships an upstream default password, this image is secure by default: Karavan is bound to loopback only and nginx does all customer-facing work. Port 80 fronts the visual designer and API behind a per-VM HTTP Basic Auth gate whose password is generated uniquely on first boot, and Karavan's own sign in password is rotated to that same per-VM value so the upstream default is never shipped. An unauthenticated /healthz endpoint on port 80 supports Azure Load Balancer probes, and a demo integration project is seeded on first boot so the designer opens populated.
