MCA Continuity

MCA Continuity helps EA customers restore Azure cost reporting in Power BI after moving to MCA.
Your Power BI cost reports broke after migrating from EA to MCA. MCA Continuity fixes them.
When Microsoft migrates an Enterprise Agreement to a Microsoft Customer Agreement, the Power BI Cost Management connector stops working the way it used to. Column names change, potentially breaking DAX measures and visual bindings in your existing dashboards. Historical cost data from your EA billing account becomes inaccessible through the connector, limiting analysis. And if your organization spends more than $2-5M per month, the connector hits a hard ceiling where data is incomplete or fails to load entirely.
Microsoft's recommended path forward is to export cost data to a storage account and rebuild your reports using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 or Microsoft Fabric. That is no quick fix. That is a project.
MCA Continuity is the alternative you need. Deploy this managed application into your Azure tenant, run a two-minute onboarding script, and swap your Power BI connection to a new SQL database that has your cost data with EA-compatible column names. Your existing DAX measures bind to the same columns they used before. No schema changes. No Fabric requirement. No rebuild.
Zero data leaves your tenant
MCA Continuity runs entirely inside your Azure environment. The SQL database, storage account, and all collected cost data are Azure resources in your tenant, governed by your existing security policies and access controls. The application only connects to management.azure.com for cost data, graph.microsoft.com for subscription discovery, and your own Application Insights instance for health metrics. There are no external callbacks, no telemetry, no data exports to third-party services, and no vendor access to your cost data. Your data never crosses a tenant boundary.
How it works
A collection engine runs daily, pulling cost data from the Cost Details API across all your subscriptions and writing it into an Azure SQL database. The database includes SQL views that map column names across EA, MCA, and PAYG naming conventions, so the same view works regardless of which billing type your reports were built for.
Connect Power BI Desktop using SQL DirectQuery and point it at the CostManagement_Usage view. If your dashboards referenced Cost, CostInBillingCurrency, or PreTaxCost, they all return the same value. SubscriptionId and SubscriptionGuid resolve to the same column. The view handles the translation so your reports do not have to.
Historical data is backfilled automatically. The first collection run pulls up to 13 months of cost history, so your trend lines and year-over-year comparisons work from day one. Data refreshes daily at 2 AM UTC. There is no spend cap and no throttling regardless of how many subscriptions or how much monthly spend your organization has.
