Advanced Lookup

Paste lookup values, review unmatched keywords, apply a fallback filter when user filter not active
Advanced Lookup helps Power BI report users paste one or more lookup rows, apply a native Power BI tuple filter, and review lookup results directly on the report canvas. It is designed for users who need to validate, filter, and export lookup results without leaving the report.
Advanced Lookup supports one to five lookup columns. Each pasted row is treated as one tuple across those fields, so users can match combinations such as X/Y coordinates or a document title plus revision. The results table shows matched rows, unmatched lookup values, match counts, and related result-column values. Users can also download the same results table as a CSV file.
Advanced Lookup keeps unmatched input visible, unlike standard filters that usually ignore values not found in the source data. The visual can also apply a fallback filter when no user-entered lookup filter is active, helping prevent other report visuals from showing all data when the intended empty state is blank or restricted. The fallback filter can detect existing report filters and slicers, so it fills the gap when there is no active filtering context.
- Multiple-column lookup: Match one to five pasted lookup columns as native Power BI tuple filters.
- Unmatched input visibility: Keep every input row visible, including values that return no matches.
- Fallback filter behavior: Apply a controlled fallback filter when no user-entered lookup filter is active.
- Filter detector: Detect whether other report filters or slicers are active, and apply the fallback filter only when no other filter is active.
- CSV export: Download matched, unmatched, and result-column values from the results table.
The free version works as a single-column text filter. Additional features, including multiple-column lookup, table display, fallback filter behavior, filter detection, and CSV export, can be unlocked with a paid license.
