Maps Lite is the streamlined version of the widely used Maps visual for Power BI. It offers nearly the full feature set of the original visual, but focuses entirely on scenarios where you bring your own geography. Upload your own GeoJSON or TopoJSON maps and enrich them with markers, routes, bubble charts, image markers, and true mini‑charts directly on shapes or points. Maps Lite delivers the full analytical power of Maps—without the integrated offline map library.

Key Features

• Custom‑shape visualization: Choropleth maps, markers, routes, bubble charts, image markers, and chart‑enhanced routes – all based on your own GeoJSON or TopoJSON.
• True mini‑charts on shapes and points: Create Column, Pie, or Donut charts directly on points, routes, or custom shapes using categories as axes or legends.
• Image markers and image charts: Display images as fixed‑size markers or as scalable mini‑charts where the image size is proportional to a measure.
• Rich interactivity: Pan, zoom, rotate, drill, auto‑centering, and full selection support.
• Smart formatting: Category‑based colors, linear/diverging/log scales, multi‑field labels, and customizable drill paths.
• Data transparency: Mapping metadata to validate and prepare your data model for custom shapes.

Note: Maps Lite does not include the integrated offline map library of the full Maps visual. It is optimized for users who work exclusively with their own GeoJSON or TopoJSON maps.
