The calendar visual that really works
Visualize event and schedule data in six views — month, week, day, list, year, and quarter — all in one Power BI custom visual.
Six views, one visual
- Month — the classic overview. See up to 5 events per cell across a full month at a glance.
- Week — a full week with time slots, great for team schedules and recurring meetings.
- Day — zoom into a single day for precise hourly planning.
- List — a scrollable event timeline, ideal for dense data or long-running events.
- Year — spot trends and busy periods across all 12 months in one view.
- Quarter — built for project milestones, sprint planning, and quarterly reviews.
Switch views instantly from the toolbar. Enable or disable individual views from the Format pane to keep the experience focused for your audience.
Get started in two steps
Map a Start Date column and an End Date column — that's all that's required. Add an Event Title, a Category, and tooltip fields whenever you're ready. The calendar handles the rest.
Color-coded categories with a legend
Assign a custom color to each event category directly from the Format pane — no DAX, no conditional formatting. A configurable legend (top, bottom, left, or right) keeps your audience oriented, and clicking a legend item highlights events by category on the fly.
Work hours that match your team
Choose which days count as working days and define your working hours window. Week and Day views automatically shade non-working time, so your teams focus on what's relevant without extra visual noise.
Drill-through links and rich tooltips
Map a URL column to open a link when an event is clicked — ideal for tickets, project pages, SharePoint documents, or any external resource. Add extra data columns as tooltip fields for on-hover context without crowding the calendar itself.
Everything lives in the Format pane
Default view, first day of week, max events per cell, legend position and font size, work schedule, and per-category colors — all configured through the standard Power BI Format pane. No custom code required.
Data roles
- Start Date (required) — start date or datetime of each event
- End Date (required) — end date or datetime of each event
- Event Title — label displayed on the event chip
- Category — groups events by color and drives the legend
- Detail URL — URL opened when clicking an event
- Tooltip Fields — extra columns shown in the hover tooltip
