Azure VMware Solution Migration: 8-Week Implementation

Simplicity IT Inc.

IT directors and infrastructure leaders: move an approved VMware workload wave to Azure VMware Solution. This eight-week implementation delivers a validated foundation, pilot and controlled cutover with application-owner acceptance.

What this implementation delivers

  • Confirmed scope, dependencies, success criteria, change windows, rollback owners, and workload wave plan.
  • Azure landing-zone readiness for identity, networking, connectivity, logging, policy, backup, recovery, and operations.
  • Azure VMware Solution private cloud deployment and configuration for one agreed Azure region.
  • Customer-approved connectivity between the source VMware environment and Azure VMware Solution.
  • VMware HCX configuration when it is licensed, supported, and approved for the selected migration method.
  • A pilot migration followed by one controlled production wave of up to 25 eligible virtual machines.
  • Validation of connectivity, performance, monitoring, backup, recovery, security, and application-owner acceptance.
  • As-built documentation, migration runbook, rollback plan, operational handoff, and the backlog for later waves.

Delivery architecture and access

Microsoft Entra ID controls Azure management access. VMware administration and guest operating-system permissions are scoped separately.

The customer owns the Azure subscription, Azure VMware Solution resources, credentials, data, and approval decisions. Simplicity IT uses customer-approved least-privilege access. Azure Lighthouse can be used for delegated Azure management when the customer approves it. Owner, User Access Administrator, and broad data-reader roles are not required by the standard delivery pattern. Every production migration and cutover requires a named customer approver, an approved change record, tested rollback steps, and application-owner acceptance.

Eight-week delivery plan

Week 1 confirms the accepted assessment, scope, dependencies, owners and release criteria. Week 2 completes the low-level design. Weeks 3 and 4 deploy the approved Azure VMware Solution foundation, configure connectivity and rehearse the pilot. Week 5 migrates and validates the pilot. Weeks 6 and 7 execute one approved production wave of up to 25 eligible virtual machines. Week 8 validates operations and cost assumptions and transfers as-built evidence and the later-wave backlog.

Deliverables

  • Approved low-level design and decision register.
  • AVS landing-zone and private-cloud deployment record.
  • Network, identity, security, monitoring, backup, and recovery configuration record.
  • Application dependency, wave, cutover, and rollback runbooks.
  • Pilot and production-wave migration evidence.
  • Technical and application validation matrix.
  • As-built configuration document and operational support guide.
  • Cost and capacity review based on the deployed scope.
  • Remaining-wave backlog, risks, owners, and recommended schedule.
  • Executive handoff and customer acceptance record.

Prerequisites

Customer supplies sponsor, Azure subscription and approved region, VMware and network access, approved discovery data, application and control owners, change windows and licenses. Azure, third-party, carrier and hardware costs are separate.

Limitations and exclusions

The base plan covers one Azure region, one AVS private cloud, one source VMware environment, one pilot group, and one production wave of up to 25 eligible virtual machines. Application refactoring, database modernization, end-user computing transformation, mass data migration, unsupported operating systems, remediation outside the agreed migration path, additional regions, additional private clouds, and later workload waves require a separate signed statement of work.

How to buy

Request a private offer at azmktpl@simplicityitinc.com. Estimate: USD 55,000. Agree scope and terms, then accept and purchase through Microsoft Marketplace. Remote delivery. Microsoft licenses, consumption and excluded work are separate.

Relationship to other services

This offer owns the scoped AVS migration wave. Accepted infrastructure TCO and dependency findings are reused rather than charged for again. Other workload migrations, later waves and ongoing Azure operations are separately scoped.
