FlowPath by Friven

Curved, weighted arrows between places - from coordinates or city names, no geocoding service.

Map movement, not static points. FlowPath draws a curved, weighted arrow from each origin to each destination, so volume and direction read at a glance - trade lanes, supply chains, shipments, migration, transfers, referrals, any movement between places.

Built for strict data governance

  • No geocoding service. Place names resolve against a list of 34,000 cities bundled inside the visual. No external calls, and no data leaves your report - which is also why it can be certified.
  • Coordinates or place names. Bind latitude and longitude, or a single City|State|Country column. Mix both, and explicit coordinates take priority.
  • Never silently wrong. A name that could mean several places is refused rather than guessed at, and rows that cannot be located are counted on the visual, with the reason on hover.
  • Multi-hop routes. Chain legs into one route, so a shipment through three hubs reads as a journey rather than three unrelated arrows.
  • Timeline playback and flow animation. Bind a date field and watch a network expand, shift and contract over time.
  • Great-circle paths for long-haul lanes, crossing the antimeridian correctly rather than doubling back across the map.
  • Divergent path widths. Give a flow a value at each end and it is drawn between the two, colored by what it gained or lost in transit.
  • Directional highlighting. Select a hub and its inbound traffic separates from its outbound by shape as well as color, so a busy node stays legible.
  • Behaves like a native visual: cross-filtering, high-contrast themes, full tooltips.

Who it is for

Supply chain and logistics teams charting distribution networks; operations and finance teams tracking transfers between sites; analysts working with trade, migration or referral data. Anyone whose data has a from and a to.

Licensing and feature access

Additional purchase may be required. The visual is free, and stays free, for maps of up to 20 distinct flows - including place-name lookup, arrow styling, bubbles, labels, legend and tooltips. One license, purchased through this listing, removes the 20-flow limit and unlocks great-circle paths, multi-hop routes, flow animation, timeline playback, divergent path widths and directional highlighting. Every paid feature is fully usable before purchase, marked with a watermark until a license is applied.
