IFS Planning & Scheduling Optimization (PSO) uses AI to optimize field worker planning & scheduling
IFS Planning & Scheduling Optimization (PSO) helps service and asset-intensive organizations plan, schedule and optimize mobile workforces and other resources. Powered by IFS.ai and the IFS Dynamic Scheduling Engine, it continuously evaluates scheduling options against business priorities and operational constraints to assign the right resource to the right activity at the right time.
For day-to-day service execution, dynamic scheduling continually adapts schedules as conditions change. It can account for resource availability, skills, parts, costs, time, service priorities, travel and SLA commitments. This helps teams respond to urgent work, delays, traffic disruption, unavailable workers or missing resources while maintaining an optimized schedule. Static scheduling is also supported for predictable activities such as recurring service or maintenance work.
Appointment booking identifies suitable time slots based on the existing schedule and indicates which options provide the best operational fit. Resource planning supports rota creation based on workforce requirements and working rules, with the option to use the optimization engine to generate a rota automatically. Scheduling data management provides a structured way to maintain information such as activity types, SLA types, regions, skills, parts and appointment templates.
IFS PSO can integrate with Microsoft Dynamics 365 to bring advanced planning and scheduling optimization into the Microsoft field service environment. The integration connects the Dynamics 365 and PSO data models, enabling relevant work, resource and scheduling data to flow between the applications. The PSO experience can be embedded within Dynamics 365, allowing dispatchers to access its scheduling capabilities without leaving the environment in which they already work. Integration with Microsoft Copilot also enables users to interact with the PSO Copilot through the Microsoft experience.
This approach enables organizations to retain Microsoft Dynamics 365 for customer and field service processes while adding the specialized field resource optimization capabilities of IFS PSO. It creates a more connected experience across service planning and execution, reduces the need to switch between applications, and makes optimized schedules available within the Dynamics user experience.
IFS PSO provides visibility across resource planning, scheduling and field execution. Its modular capabilities can be deployed separately or integrated to support an end-to-end planning and scheduling process. Its integration architecture provides APIs for external systems to submit data and retrieve optimized schedules, supporting deployment alongside IFS Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other enterprise applications.
By continuously optimizing resources, routes and priorities, IFS PSO helps organizations increase workforce productivity, reduce travel and operating costs, protect service margins, improve SLA performance and deliver more reliable customer service. It replaces reactive, manually intensive scheduling with intelligent, scalable and responsive decision-making while allowing organizations to build on their existing technology investments.
