Icon Map Lite

Icon Map Lite is part of the Icon Map family of enterprise-grade mapping visuals for Power BI.

Icon Map Lite operates entirely within the trusted Power BI environment, using only the data and resources contained within your report with no external access. This makes it ideal for organizations that require a highly controlled, secure approach to data access.

Icon Map Lite includes a rich built-in background map with detailed country and administrative boundaries, global cities and land-use data, with the option to upload local street-level maps - all available without connecting to external mapping services.

You can extend the built-in mapping data by adding your own GeoJSON files, shapefiles or PMTiles tilesets, which are stored directly within the visual.

In addition to plotting points from longitude and latitude coordinates, you can supply geospatial data in GeoJSON and WKT formats through the Power BI data model. This gives you the flexibility to create detailed, data-rich maps while remaining entirely within the certified Power BI environment.

The following layer types are available:

• Lines - Straight, Shortest Path, Flow Arcs, Flow Tree and 3D Arcs.
• Circles - Point data with extensive formatting options, including clustering.
• Images and Icons - Show icons based on text or emojis, store images in your Power BI data, or generate dynamic SVGs using DAX measures.
• 3D Columns - Bars on a flat or globe map, with the width, height and color determined by your data.
• Heatmaps and Geospatial Grids - Create heatmaps, or aggregate your point data into H3, A5, S2 or Geohash grids.
• Shapes from Files - Upload tilesets or shapefiles to show your own custom geometry on the map in 2D or 3D.
• Shapes from Data - Draw geometry stored in text fields in your Power BI data, in GeoJSON or Well-Known Text (WKT) format.

Note: Icon Map Lite supports Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service only. For Power BI Embedded, Power BI Report Server, Publish to web (anonymous access to reports) and additional capabilities, consider Icon Map Pro and Icon Map Slicer.
