Crop Water Use Maps provide a view of water used/lost by a crop over 24-hour period
This Bayer AgPowered Service provides access to map layers and supporting metadata that help define the amount of water that a crop is using or losing during the course of a day. Map and metadata are generated based on user identified geographic points. Users will then be able to track and understand crop moisture levels and potential crop loss areas due to lack of water.
Crop Water Use Maps are a transformation of NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) imagery using estimated crop evapotranspiration, which is the amount of water lost from topsoil (evaporation) and from plants (transpiration). It consists of a map with a single value per pixel computed for a given day/scene. Metadata that feeds the Crop Water Use Maps is also available for tracking water usage through metrics as well as visuals. Crop Water Use Maps can often have a better correlation with end of season corn yield.
To be relevant for irrigation planning and other use-cases, crop evapotranspiration is calculated using weather data from the day before the given day.
Sentinel_2_L1C is the satellite imagery source and Weather consists of a mixture of IBM and ECMWF weather datasets. Geographies supported include: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada, Central African Republic, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Malawi, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
