Tracim on Ubuntu 24.04 | 24/7 Support by cloudimg

by cloudimg

Self-hosted team collaboration with shared spaces for documents and discussion.

Tracim on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Tracim is an open-source, self-hosted team-collaboration platform. Teams work inside shared spaces that bring together rich-text HTML documents, uploaded files with versioning, threaded discussions, comments and a kanban board - so a project's content and conversations live together in one private place. The official container ships the Python/Pyramid backend, the web frontend, Apache and Redis in one image, backed by SQLite, so the whole appliance runs self-contained on a single VM.

What cloudimg delivers

  • Tracim (build 2025-04.00_build_164) from the official pinned container image, baked into the image and fronted by nginx terminating TLS on port 443 (port 80 redirects to HTTPS)
  • A per-VM administrator account, a per-VM session signing secret and a per-VM TLS certificate generated at first boot - the upstream default login (admin@admin.admin) is retired before the service serves a request, and a wrong or blank password is rejected
  • A self-contained single-VM deployment backed by SQLite - no separate database server to run
  • Fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with unattended security updates enabled
  • 24/7 cloudimg support

Licensing

Tracim is free and open source (AGPL-3.0 for the agenda application, LGPL-3.0 for the other frontend applications, MIT for the backend). There is no per-CPU or per-seat software fee. The cloudimg charge (0.04 US dollars per vCPU/hour) covers packaging, security patching, image maintenance and 24/7 support.

Recommended sizing

Standard_B2s (2 vCPU, 4 GB) is a comfortable starting point; scale up for larger teams or heavy file and document volumes.

Getting started

Deploy the VM, open ports 22, 80 and 443 in your NSG, read the per-VM administrator password from /root/tracim-credentials.txt over SSH, then browse to the VM public IP over HTTPS and sign in with admin@cloudimg.local.
