MRBS, the meeting room booking system on Ubuntu 24.04, preconfigured by cloudimg
MRBS, the Meeting Room Booking System, is a mature open source web application for booking meeting rooms and other shared resources. It gives your organisation a calendar driven booking interface, per user accounts, and an administration area for managing areas, rooms and users, so people can see what is free and reserve it without email chains or spreadsheets. This image is built and maintained by cloudimg on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base, with MRBS 1.12 served by Apache 2.4 and PHP 8.3 and a bundled local MySQL 8.0 server, so the appliance is complete and useful on its own within minutes of launch.
The booking schema is loaded and the first administrator is created for you, so there is no manual database import or setup wizard. Unique MySQL, application database and administrator passwords are generated on the first boot of every VM and written to a root only file, so no shared or default passwords ship in the image, and the administrator is a real database backed account with a hashed password rather than a known default. Browse to the instance address, sign in, and start creating areas and rooms, managing users, and taking bookings.
The image is host agnostic: MRBS derives its runtime URLs from the request host, so it renders on the VM public IP, on 127.0.0.1, or on any domain you point at it, with no URL rewrite needed. The bundled MySQL listens only on the loopback interface and is never exposed to the network, and Apache serves the site on port 80. For production, front port 80 with your own domain and TLS.
MRBS is free and open source software distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2. This image is an independent packaging of the open source MRBS software by cloudimg and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the MRBS project or its maintainers. Backed by 24/7 cloudimg support.
