GoAlert on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS | cloudimg

GoAlert is an open source on-call scheduling and alerting platform, maintained by Target, that makes sure the right person is notified the right way at the right time. You define who is on call with schedules and rotations, decide how an incident is escalated with ordered, repeating escalation policies, and register the services you want alerts for. Your monitoring tools raise alerts through per service integration keys, and GoAlert routes each one to whoever is on call, escalating automatically until it is acknowledged.

This cloudimg image runs GoAlert 0.34.1 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as a single self contained Go binary, backed by a local PostgreSQL 16 database. GoAlert listens on the loopback interface behind an nginx reverse proxy on port 80, with WebSocket support for live updates and an unauthenticated health endpoint for Azure Load Balancer probes. The web UI, schedules and escalation policies are ready to use the moment the instance boots.

The image is secure by default. GoAlert ships no default account: on first boot each instance generates a unique administrator password, a unique PostgreSQL password and a unique data encryption key, applies the database migrations and creates the single admin account, storing the credentials in a root only file. No credential, database password or encryption key is baked into the image, and no two deployments share one.

To deliver notifications by SMS, voice call, email or Slack, connect a provider such as Twilio, SMTP, Mailgun or Slack from the Admin Config page after signing in. GoAlert is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and is free to use. The cloudimg charge covers packaging, security patching, image maintenance and 24/7 expert support.
