Apache Storm on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Apache Storm is a distributed real-time stream-processing engine that reliably processes high-velocity, unbounded data streams with millisecond latency. This image is built and maintained by cloudimg on a hardened, fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base.
### What's included
- Apache Storm (Nimbus, Supervisor, UI) with a local ZooKeeper on OpenJDK 17, managed by systemd
- The Storm UI on port 80, protected by HTTP Basic authentication; cluster ports firewalled to loopback
- A unique admin password generated on first boot (no shared default credential)
- The bundled WordCount topology submitted on first boot so the UI shows a live topology
- Storm state on a dedicated managed data disk
- Automatic security updates enabled
### Getting started
Retrieve the generated password with `sudo cat /root/storm-credentials.txt`, then open the Storm UI at the VM's public IP to monitor topologies. Submit your own with `storm jar <your-topology>.jar`. The deployment guide on cloudimg.co.uk covers topology deployment and day-2 operations.
