Autocomplete Filter (BI-Champ Suite)

This slicer brings advanced autocomplete search to Power BI. Unlike standard slicers, it predicts matches as you type, supports fuzzy matching, and lets users paste or combine multiple search terms to quickly filter large text fields. Autocompletion (also called type-ahead search or predictive filtering) allows users to type a few letters of an identifier, name, code, phrase, or other text—and the visual predicts matching values so they can be instantly selected as report filters.

By default, searches use contains (partial) matching, but you can also switch to exact matching where needed. Users may combine multiple search terms, mix "AND" vs "OR" combining, leverage fuzzy matching (double metaphone and other algorithms), and freely copy-and-paste values into and out of the slicer. This slicer helps you search efficiently, especially when working with identifiers, codes, names, addresses, and other modest-length text fields.

There are a wide variety of options, including:

• Use presets to easily apply settings based on use cases (e.g. addresses, names, SKU's)
• Single or multiple matching
• Options for case-insensitive, diacritic-insensitive, punctuation-insensitive, whitespace-insensitive, and spelling-insensitive (fuzzy) matching
• Select from multiple fuzzy matching algorithms (including double metaphone)
• Toggle between contains and exact matching
• Display secondary values in the suggestion list to support more confident selection (e.g., additional descriptive fields)
• Expand matches: convert partial-match text into actual matched values, which can be exported (comma- or line-delimited) and pasted into other tools
• Paste lists of values directly from Excel, email, or other sources into the filter area
• When multiple selections are enabled, display chosen values as text or as pills
• Optionally merge terms with prefixes for "and", "or" and "not"
• Tool-tip and drill-through support for exact-match pills
• Optional utility buttons: reset, include/exclude blanks, copy filtered values, and more
• Handles large datasets efficiently, with loading feedback (tested with millions of rows)
• Ability to overlay the suggestion list over other visuals on a page (see our sample!)
• Multi-language support

The visual is free for individual use in Power BI Desktop.
