Solve advanced calculus directly inside Excel using patented, formula-based numerical solvers.

This unique, cross-platform ExcelWorks Add-in extends Excel with a comprehensive suite of powerful calculus functions that you can use directly in standard Excel formulas—just like native functions—to solve a wide range of calculus problems.

For example, to integrate a formula stored in A1 with respect to X1 between 1 and 2, simply use the QUADF function as follows: =QUADF(A1, X1, 1, 2). For simpler expressions, you can pass the formula directly, for example: =QUADF(X1*SQRT(X1), X1, 1, 2).

Similarly, to solve a system of coupled equations defined by formulas in Y1, Y2, and Y3 with respect to the variables X1, X2, and X3, you can use the NLSOLVE function like this: =NLSOLVE(Y1:Y3, X1:X3).

It really is that simple. Yet behind this ease of use are state-of-the-art, rigorously tested algorithms that deliver exceptional performance and precision. These all-new calculus functions are protected by four U.S. patents and have been in continuous use worldwide since 2015.

By installing this Add-in, you gain the ability to solve a broad range of advanced calculus and numerical problems, including:

  • Computing single and multiple integrals of any order, with finite or infinite limits
  • Computing first- and higher-order derivatives of functions
  • Computing integrals and derivatives of discrete (x, y) data using spline techniques

The calculus functions can also be combined to tackle complex parametric optimization problems with remarkable ease. In addition, the Add-in includes powerful 2D and 3D interpolation tools based on spline and natural-neighbor algorithms. For example, the GRIDXYZ function allows you to interpolate scattered (x, y, z) data onto a uniform rectilinear grid for convenient surface plotting in Excel.

No specialized skills are required beyond basic familiarity with Excel spreadsheets and formulas. Detailed help pages for each function include multiple examples to help you get started quickly.

If you are using Excel on a PC running Microsoft Windows, you may also consider installing the desktop version, ExceLab 7.0, available for download from excel-works.com. ExceLab 7.0 includes additional advanced ODE and PDE solver capabilities and provides direct coupling to the Excel engine, eliminating internet-related performance variability.
