What Elastio Does

Elastio connects agentlessly to Azure Backup, Recovery Services Vaults, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure VMs. It mounts each recovery point as an offline forensic target and runs the Hunt Engine against it. The Hunt Engine performs Deep File Inspection — opening files and inspecting their contents using an ensemble of detection models trained on 2,300+ ransomware families and 10,000+ variants. This is distinct from entropy or anomaly detection, which infers threat presence from outside the file without opening it. Deep File Inspection catches zero-day encryption that entropy-based methods miss. In 2025, the Hunt Engine stopped 48,000+ ransomware threats and intercepted 4,000+ malware artifacts living inside customer backup data. Zero Elastio customers paid a ransom.

For each protected asset, Elastio tracks three outputs:

• Last Known Clean — the most recent verified clean recovery point
• Clean Boundary — the exact timeline where clean data ends and compromised data begins
• Resilience RPO (R-RPO) — the actual time gap between now and the last proven clean copy, per asset. Standard backup RPO measures whether a copy exists. R-RPO measures whether it can be trusted.
