About this add-in

This add-in provides tracking functionality to emails by inserting a small tracking pixel image into an email. Emails sent with tracking enabled are provided a sidepane that shows the tracking history of the email, including timestamp, device type/operating system (such as Iphones and Windows, etc.) and email client (such as web, Outlook, etc.).

Technical notes

When enabling tracking for your email, a tracking pixel image is inserted into the body of your email. This image is a temporary placeholder.

Once you click "Send" on your message, this add-in uses the Outlook API to check the body of an email when it is sent. If the body contains a tracking pixel placeholder added by this add-in, the add-in further processes the message. If the body does not contain a tracking pixel, the add-in does nothing further.

If the add-in further processes the message, it involves sending the email information, including contacts, subject, body, attachments to the Engagement Tracker server which stores this information, sends the email and reports back to the Outlook add-in that the operation succeeded.

The tracking history sidepane will show you when the recipient opened the email.

The stored information on the Engagement Tracker server will be available to import into your CRM of choice, such as HubSpot or Salesforce, after which it will be deleted on the Engagement Tracker server.

The Engagement Tracker server will monitor your inbox for email replies to tracked email and log these too.
