Reference Table Manager lets you build and maintain reference
lookup tables right inside your Excel workbooks — no external databases,
no complex setup. Create tables, import from existing ranges, and use
native Excel formulas to look up values instantly.
What You Can Do (Free)
• Create Reference Tables — Define up to 3 tables with custom
columns and up to 50 rows each. Tables are stored inside the workbook
using Excel Settings, so they travel with the file.
• Import from Range — Select any range in your spreadsheet and
import it as a reference table in one click. First row becomes headers
automatically.
• Insert Lookup Formulas — The built-in Formula Builder
generates XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, or VLOOKUP formulas that reference your
tables, inserted directly into your cells.
• My Tables Library — Save up to 3 tables to your personal
library and reuse them across workbooks without recreating them.
• Publish to Sheet — Export any reference table to a named
worksheet for use with standard Excel features like PivotTables and
charts.
Getting Started
1. Open Excel and go to the Home tab.
2. Click Manage Tables in the Reference Tables group.
3. Click + New Table to create your first table, or
Import Range to convert an existing range.
4. Use Insert Lookup to generate formulas that pull values from
your tables.
Pro & Enterprise Tiers
Need more capacity? Upgraded tiers (available separately via Microsoft
AppSource) unlock higher table and row limits, data validation dropdowns,
sheet synchronisation, and priority support. The free tier is fully
functional on its own — upgrades simply remove limits for power users.
