The Data Security Envisioning Workshop is designed to help organizations identify real data security and compliance risks within their Microsoft 365 environments and understand how to mitigate them using Microsoft Purview. Through live discovery in the customer’s production environment and collaborative discussion sessions, the workshop delivers actionable insights into data loss, insider risk, and information protection, while introducing customers to the Microsoft Purview solution suite (formerly E5 Compliance).
Workshop Objectives: • Discover sensitive and stale data, insider risks, and potential data leakage • Identify security and compliance challenges related to AI tools (including 3rd-party apps) • Map customer risks to Microsoft Purview capabilities • Help the customer build a plan for mitigating risks with Microsoft’s compliance solutions • Deliver tailored recommendations and roadmap for adoption
Session Breakdown & Deliverables:
Session 1: Data Security Objectives & Planning • Understand the customer’s key data security and compliance objectives • Define engagement goals and align on success criteria • Review existing environment, licenses, and scope
Session 2: Risk Discovery Setup • Initiate risk and data discovery in the production environment • Use Microsoft tools (trial or licensed) to surface security and compliance risks • Prepare environment for deeper analysis
Session 3: Risk Analysis – Discovery Review • Explore identified data risks including: ○ Stale and sensitive data ○ Data leakage, loss, and theft ○ Insider threats and user behavior anomalies ○ Use of Microsoft and 3rd-party AI tools
Session 4: Microsoft Purview Overview • Introduce Microsoft Purview capabilities with a focus on: ○ Data Loss Prevention (DLP) ○ Information Protection (MIP) ○ Insider Risk Management (IRM) • Tailor discussion to the customer’s discovered risk areas • Include additional Purview tools if relevant (e.g., Communication Compliance, Records Management)
Session 5: Solution Mapping & Value Realization • Map identified risks to Purview features and controls • Showcase how Microsoft Purview can address and reduce risks • Share relevant use cases and adoption scenarios
Session 6: Recommendations & Roadmap • Deliver tailored recommendations to mitigate discovered risks • Present prioritized next steps for Purview deployment and adoption • Outline licensing guidance and long-term data security strategy • Q&A and stakeholder alignment
