DMS Direct: track device deployments and chat with your DMS team
Modus DMS Direct, from Modus Interactive, keeps people up to date on their device deployments - delivery confirmations, collection reminders, appointment changes and status updates - and lets them reply in their own words to reach the people who sent them.
DMS is a human-staffed service, not an automated assistant. Messages are written by a person on your organisation's DMS team, and when an employee replies, a person answers. Replies thread back to the right deployment record automatically.
Requirements and limitations
- In order to use this app, an active DMS account is required. DMS is a deployment management service licensed separately by Modus Interactive; DMS Direct connects it to Microsoft Teams and does not work on its own.
- Setup is a one-time step performed by an administrator on your DMS instance, who generates a pairing code and connects your Microsoft Teams tenant to it.
- Employees whose accounts are not enabled in DMS are told so clearly, with a route to their administrator.
- Replies come from people during their working hours, not from a bot.
- DMS Direct runs in personal scope only: a one-to-one chat between an employee and their DMS team. It is not a channel or group app.
- DMS Direct reads a recipient's Microsoft Teams presence, so the DMS team can see whether a message will land at a good moment.

Getting connected
1. Your Microsoft Teams administrator installs Modus DMS Direct and grants tenant consent for the Microsoft Graph permissions it needs.
2. An administrator on your DMS instance generates a one-time pairing code.
3. In a chat with the DMS Direct bot, type the word connect followed by that code.
The bot understands a small number of commands (help, status and connect) and passes everything else to your DMS team.
Privacy and data handling
The central relay is operated by Modus Interactive from UK infrastructure. Only routing metadata passes through it; the content of your conversations stays between your Microsoft Teams tenant and your own DMS instance. Directory data is read on demand for identity resolution and is not persisted by Modus.
