The CPS Threat Protection architecture is built on three operational tiers, connected by the Microsoft Security Graph for real-time signal correlation.
Tier 1: Signal Collection & Detection
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint provides next-generation AV, EDR, and automated investigation across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Defender for Office 365 secures email with Safe Links, Safe Attachments, and anti-phishing ML. Defender for Cloud Apps governs SaaS and shadow IT. Defender for Identity detects lateral movement and credential abuse, while Defender for Cloud secures Azure, AWS, and GCP workloads.
Tier 2: Correlation & Investigation (XDR)
Microsoft Defender XDR correlates all Defender telemetry into unified incidents with AI-driven attack story reconstruction. Automatic attack disruption contains threats mid-kill-chain. Copilot for Security accelerates investigations with natural language queries, KQL generation, and summarization.
