Fedora Linux 44 on Azure | 24/7 Support

por cloudimg

Fedora Linux 44, hardened, fully patched and self updating, with 24/7 support.

Fedora Linux 44 by cloudimg

Fedora Linux 44 virtual machine image for Microsoft Azure, built from the official Fedora Cloud Edition base image published by the Fedora Project. Fedora Linux is the community distribution sponsored by Red Hat and is where a great deal of enterprise Linux technology appears first. Free and open source, with 24/7 cloudimg support.

No application is preinstalled. The operating system is the product: it boots hardened, fully patched and ready for you to build your own services on.

Important: Fedora Linux Release Lifecycle

Each Fedora Linux release is maintained for roughly 13 months, not for years. Fedora Linux 44 reaches end of life on 2 June 2027, after which it receives no further security updates. Choose this image when you want current packages and a fast moving toolchain, and plan your upgrade before that date. If you need a multi year support window, choose an enterprise distribution such as Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux or Red Hat Enterprise Linux instead. The deployment guide documents the in place upgrade path.

Why Choose cloudimg?

  • 24/7 Expert Support with guaranteed 24 hour response. Contact support@cloudimg.co.uk
  • Fully Patched at Build the image is not captured until dnf reports zero pending updates and no pending reboot, verified by an automated gate
  • Keeps Patching Itself automatic security updates are armed before capture, so your VM does not silently fall behind Fedora's fast update stream
  • No Known Credential no account ships with a usable password, the root account is locked, and no SSH key is baked in, so access is only by the key you supply at launch
  • Per VM Identity SSH host keys and the systemd machine ID are generated on first boot, so no two VMs ever share a host key
  • Azure Native Integration Azure Linux Agent, cloud init, serial console and Gen2 Hyper V support

What's Included

  • Fedora Linux 44, x86_64, from the official Fedora Project cloud image
  • Every available update applied at build time, with a hard gate before capture
  • Automatic security updates enabled and configured to apply security fixes without rebooting on their own
  • SELinux in enforcing mode, the Fedora Linux default, preserved and verified on a fresh boot
  • SSH hardened to key only access, password authentication disabled, root login disabled
  • LLMNR disabled, so SSH on port 22 is the only network reachable service in the shipped image
  • Standard Fedora and updates repositories enabled so your update path is intact
  • Azure Linux Agent (waagent), cloud init and chronyd time synchronisation
  • No swap baked into the image, in line with Azure guidance
  • 30 GB btrfs root, Gen2 Hyper V

Use Cases

  • Development and test environments that need current compilers, runtimes and kernels
  • Building and validating software against the packages that will reach enterprise Linux next
  • Container and cloud native workloads that benefit from a recent kernel and toolchain
  • Evaluation of new Linux features ahead of their arrival in long term support distributions

Licensing

Fedora Linux is free and open source software. It is not distributed under a single licence: it is a collection of many thousands of packages under a wide range of predominantly free and open source licences, including the GPL, LGPL, MIT, BSD and Apache licences. The licence applying to any package is that package's own licence. No subscription or paid entitlement is required for the operating system. The cloudimg charge of $0.04 per vCPU hour covers packaging, hardening, security patching, image maintenance and 24/7 support.

Support

cloudimg provides 24/7/365 expert technical support with a guaranteed response within 24 hours. Contact support@cloudimg.co.uk. Support for the Fedora Linux operating system itself is community based.
