Note Mark on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Note Mark is a fast, minimal, multi-user self-hosted Markdown notes server. A Go backend API and a SolidJS single-page web app ship together in one official container image; every note is stored as portable Markdown organised into books, so individuals and teams get a private place to write, organise and share notes - with optional OIDC single sign-on - entirely under their own control.

What cloudimg delivers

• Note Mark 1.0.3 (AGPL-3.0) from the official pinned container image, baked into the image and fronted by nginx terminating TLS on port 443 (port 80 redirects to HTTPS)
• A per-VM administrator account and a per-VM token signing secret generated at first boot - no default or shared login ships in the image, and a wrong or blank password is rejected
• Open self-registration disabled by default, so a fresh public VM cannot be signed up by a stranger; additional users are added from the VM with the built-in command
• Fully patched Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with unattended security updates enabled
• 24/7 cloudimg support

Licensing

Note Mark is free and open source under AGPL-3.0. There is no per-CPU or per-seat software fee. The cloudimg charge (0.04 US dollars per vCPU/hour) covers packaging, security patching, image maintenance and 24/7 support.

Recommended sizing

Standard_B2s (2 vCPU, 4 GB) is a comfortable starting point; scale up for larger teams or note volumes.

Getting started

Deploy the VM, open ports 22, 80 and 443 in your NSG, read the per-VM administrator password from /root/note-mark-credentials.txt over SSH, then browse to the VM public IP over HTTPS and sign in.
