NethServer 8 is a free, open source platform for running and managing self-hosted applications, delivered as a production ready AlmaLinux 9 virtual machine image purpose built for Microsoft Azure by cloudimg. It installs a lightweight management layer on the host and deploys applications as isolated Podman containers, all administered from a single browser based console.

From the cluster-admin web console you install applications from the built in Software Center, manage local or Active Directory users and domains, configure scheduled backups to object storage, replace the TLS certificate, and monitor the system, without touching the command line. Each application runs in its own isolated module, cleanly separated from the host and from other applications. NethServer 8 is released under the GPL.

Secure by default, unique per virtual machine. On first boot every deployment initialises its own single node cluster, generates a unique node identity, and rotates the administrator password to a value unique to that machine, written to a root only credentials file. No two deployments ever share a password, and the vendor default password is never exposed to the internet.
