ECM Document Attachments Integration – External ECM Storage for Business Central Attachments


The ECM Document Attachments Integration app extends the existing “ECM Base Application” or “easy for Dynamics 365 Business Central” with a transparent integration of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central document attachments into ECM external storage.

This optional integration layer connects directly to Business Central’s native Document Attachments feature, enabling the automatic and compliant storage of attachments in the configured ECM system. Users continue working with document attachments exactly as usual, without any change in behaviour and without noticing whether files are stored in the Business Central database or in ECM external storage. The integration provides the following features:

  • Seamless integration into Business Central document attachments, without changing existing user processes
  • Automatic storage of Business Central document attachments in the configured ECM External Storage
  • Fully transparent operation, users work with attachments as usual regardless of the physical storage location
  • Automatic availability of stored documents in the “ECM Documents FactBox” for unified access
  • Works out of the box with a provided ECM document definition, with optional manual configuration for additional Business Central tables
  • Optional automatic deletion of attachments in Business Central after successful storage in ECM
  • Asynchronous processing, ensuring background storage without interrupting user workflows
  • Configurable storage delay using the Business Central Job Queue
  • Integration into existing ECM document definitions and document structures
