Radar Chart by SmartVisuals
Radar chart with honest scales, normalization for mixed units, targets, zones and small multiples.
The radar chart that plays fair. Compare teams, products, vendors or KPIs across any number of dimensions - on a scale that stays put when slicers change, with axes in the order you chose, and with the analytical depth the built-in options never had.
Free forever - and never blocked
- Up to 3 series (the number of axes is never licensed), plus every cosmetic option: 4 themes, line / area / spline styles, marker shapes, polygon or circle grid, rotation, legend, data labels. Fully customizable - every color, font and shape is yours to override.
- Honest scale controls: pin the minimum and maximum so the chart stops rescaling with every slicer click (the classic radar trap), start axes at zero, order axes alphabetically, by value, or exactly as in your data.
- Survey data in columns works as is: leave Axis empty and every measure in Values becomes one axis - no unpivoting in Power Query.
- Honest data notes: the chart says how many values sit outside a fixed scale, and tells the author when one axis flattens all the others.
- Point color, dynamic formats, axis selection: one color for every point, per-value format strings (currencies, calculation groups) in labels and tooltips, and a click on an axis name selects that axis in every series.
- Blanks as gaps instead of fake zeros, and large data loaded in segments (up to 1,000 axes) with an honest note when the chart stops.
- No lock-out, ever. Unlicensed viewers always see the full free tier - no watermark, no broken visual, no blocked report.
Premium: the analytical stack (per-user license)
- 4 or more series - compare as many teams or products as your story needs, or split one measure by a Legend field.
- Normalization for mixed units: min-max, percentile rank or z-score per axis, so speed, price and NPS compare fairly on one chart.
- Inverted axes: mark axes where lower is better (price, error rate) so "further out" always means "better".
- Target polygon and gap: map a Target field and every series is judged against a dashed goal shape; green / red gap segments and a "% of target" scale show where you fall short.
- Zone bands and reference line: red / amber / green value rings and a marker line, drawn only where the scale makes them honest.
- Benchmark band: the min-max envelope or average shape of the visible series, as instant context.
- Conditional formatting: color whole series by a rule on their average, minimum, maximum or total.
- Per-axis scaling and bounds for expert layouts, typed in or taken from Scale Minimum / Scale Maximum fields (e.g. the maximum points of each question).
- Annotations from your data: a text measure becomes a callout next to its point, placed so callouts never overlap.
- Axis groups: map an Axis Group field and neighbouring axes sit under named arcs (Technical, Personal), with divider lines, kept together under every axis order.
- Conditional formatting on points: color each axis point by rules, a gradient or a field value with the standard Power BI fx button.
- Chart modes: when overlapping polygons stop being readable, switch to pizza slices with value chips, radial columns, or lollipops - one dropdown, same fields.
- Small multiples: one mini radar per series on a shared scale, each carrying the dashed average silhouette of the field.
New in 1.1: measures as axes, data notes, blanks as gaps, on-object formatting and 20 languages for everyone; axis groups, annotations, gap to target and point color rules in premium. Existing reports keep everything they had.
Try before you buy: every premium feature previews free in Power BI Desktop and in edit mode, so you can build and test the whole report first. Licenses are per user, purchased on AppSource and assigned in the Microsoft 365 admin center - no license keys, no vendor portal.
Built properly
- Runs fully offline - no external services, no telemetry, nothing leaves your report.
- Accessible: one keyboard tab stop with arrow navigation, Windows high-contrast support, reduced-motion support.
- Localized in 20 languages; number formats follow your measures' own format strings.
- Cross-filtering, multi-select, drill-down on axis hierarchies, tooltips on points and whole axes, and a right-click context menu everywhere.
