Summain Oy Model One

by Summain Oy

One shared data model for business and IT — from business concepts to database schema.

Data projects go wrong for a predictable reason: the business glossary, the architecture diagrams and the production database are three separate artifacts that drift apart. Model One replaces them with one model.

One model, every audience

Business stakeholders, data architects and engineers work from the same source of truth. A business owner can review a design without a translator, and what ships to production is what the business actually asked for.

What you can do

  • Logical model — design entities, attributes and relationships on a shared canvas that non-technical stakeholders can read.
  • Shared dictionary — keep terms, definitions and data types consistent across every model, so a customer means a customer everywhere.
  • Flow — show how data moves between source systems and processes, with every flow linked back to the entities and attributes it carries.
  • Physical model — generate a deployable schema for PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL, with your own naming and type overrides applied consistently, and executable DDL you can copy or download.
  • Tasks — capture open questions and decisions against the model element they concern, so reviews have an owner and a history.
  • OneAssistant — a built-in AI assistant that drafts entities, suggests attributes and answers questions with the full context of your own project.
  • Collaboration and governance — real-time multi-user editing with live presence, role-based access, versioning and full change history.
  • Import and export — start from what you already have: ER/Studio DM1 files, SQL DDL scripts including SSMS output, and DBML from dbdiagram.io. Export DDL and dbt, and move whole projects between environments as JSON.

Built for organizations that take data seriously

Model One is used in financial services, insurance, the public sector, healthcare and manufacturing — settings where a definition has to be defensible and a schema change has to be traceable.

Get started

Start free with the Community plan and model your first domain, then move to Standard or Enterprise as your data landscape grows. Model One is designed and built in Finland and deployed on Azure.
