Redis with Redis Commander on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by ProvenCloud
by ProvenCloud
Redis on Azure: in-memory data store with the Redis Commander web UI.
Redis on Azure, ready in minutes. Deploy the virtual machine, open its public IP address in a browser and you are ready to go. There is no installer to run and nothing to configure.
Redis is an open source in-memory data store used as a cache, database, message broker and session store. Applications use it to answer requests in microseconds, keep user sessions, queue background jobs and count things in real time. This image gives developers a ready Redis server in minutes, with a web UI for looking at your data.
Why teams choose this image
- Fast data for your apps: caching, sessions, queues, leaderboards, rate limits and pub/sub, with data saved to disk so it survives a restart.
- Redis listens only on the VM itself, so it is not reachable from the internet. The Redis Commander password is set from your VM ID on first boot.
- Up to date: every component is on its latest stable release and the image carries all Ubuntu 24.04 LTS security updates, with nothing pending.
- Supports Trusted Launch with Secure Boot and vTPM. No build-time SSH keys or shell history are left in the image.
What is included
- Redis 8.10.3 from the official Redis repository
- Redis Commander 0.9 web UI
- Data saved to disk so it survives a restart
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, fully patched
Getting started
Open http://<vm-public-ip>:8081/ and sign in as admin with your VM ID (Azure portal > the virtual machine > Properties > VM ID). Redis listens only on the VM itself; set a password with the included script before you expose it.
Ports opened for you: SSH 22 and 8081. For production, limit admin ports to your own IP address and add your domain with an SSL certificate. Step-by-step guide: provencloud.io/catalog/azure-redis-ubuntu-24-04
Who it is for
Developers and teams that need a cache, session store or job queue next to their Azure applications.
Pricing
The price shown is the software and packaging fee. Azure infrastructure charges for the virtual machine, disk and network are billed separately by Microsoft.
