ELK Stack with Elasticsearch on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by ProvenCloud

by ProvenCloud

ELK Stack on Azure: log search and analytics with Elasticsearch and Kibana.

ELK Stack on Azure, ready in minutes. Deploy the virtual machine, open its public IP address in a browser and you are ready to go. There is no installer to run and nothing to configure.

The ELK Stack combines Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana for collecting, searching and visualising logs and other machine data. Teams use it to troubleshoot applications, monitor servers, review security events and build dashboards from any data with a timestamp. This image gives operations and development teams a working ELK server in minutes, with all three parts already connected.

Why teams choose this image

  • Turn logs into answers: ship logs with Logstash, search them in Elasticsearch, and build Kibana dashboards for errors, traffic and performance.
  • No shared default password: every VM sets its own passwords from its own VM ID on first boot, so no two customers share a login.
  • Up to date: every component is on its latest stable release and the image carries all Ubuntu 24.04 LTS security updates, with nothing pending.
  • Supports Trusted Launch with Secure Boot and vTPM. No build-time SSH keys or shell history are left in the image.

What is included

  • Elasticsearch 9.5.5
  • Logstash 9.5.5 listening for Beats on port 5044
  • Kibana 9.5.5 behind nginx
  • Webmin 2.670 for server administration
  • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, fully patched

Getting started

Open http://<vm-public-ip>/ and sign in to Kibana as KibanaAdmin with your VM ID (Azure portal > the virtual machine > Properties > VM ID). Send logs from other hosts to port 5044. Webmin is on port 8000 (user admin).

Ports opened for you: SSH 22 and 80, 5044, 8000. For production, limit admin ports to your own IP address and add your domain with an SSL certificate. Step-by-step guide: provencloud.io/catalog/azure-elk-stack-ubuntu-24-04

Who it is for

Operations, development and security teams that want central log search and dashboards without a SaaS bill that grows with data.
