Answer parents’ messages from Microsoft Teams – and keep every word on the school’s own record.

Parents message schools every day: a child is ill and will not be in, a question about homework, a reply to a trip consent letter. Too often those messages land on personal mobiles, in WhatsApp groups or in a busy office inbox, where nothing is kept and nobody else can see what was said. ComplyChat gives parents one safe place to message the school from their phone, and this app brings those conversations into Microsoft Teams so staff can answer from the tool they already use every day.

• Answer from Teams. Each parent’s message arrives as its own thread in the Teams channel you choose, such as a year-group team. A staff reply in that thread goes straight back to the parent.
• Parents need no Teams account. Parents use ComplyChat in a web browser or the ComplyChat mobile app, signing in with their mobile number. They never need a Microsoft account or a school email address.
• Kept on the school’s own record. Every message, in both directions, is filed into the school’s own Microsoft 365, so a conversation can be found again when a question is asked later – not held only by a supplier.
• No personal numbers. Staff answer from Teams, so nobody has to give a parent a personal mobile number.

ComplyChat is used by UK schools, charities and care providers for conversations with families and the people they support.

How it is set up (admin-led)

1. A ComplyChat administrator connects the organisation’s Microsoft 365 from the ComplyChat client portal.
2. A Teams administrator or team owner adds the ComplyChat app to the chosen team; the permission below is granted as part of adding it.
3. The administrator maps a ComplyChat channel to a Teams channel in the client portal.

Until a channel is mapped, the app answers with setup guidance rather than doing nothing.

Permissions and privacy. The app uses resource-specific consent (RSC): the single permission ChannelMessage.Read.Group, granted per team when a team owner adds the app to that team. The app reads channel messages only in teams where it is installed. It requests no tenant-wide Microsoft Graph permissions and cannot read other teams, private chats, meetings or files. Captured messages are delivered into the customer’s own Microsoft 365 tenant; ComplyChat is a processor acting on the customer’s instructions. Full details: https://chat.org.uk/privacy.html

Supported channels. Standard channels only at this version. Private and shared channels are not supported.
