WhichStat for Excel
by NCU TECHNOLOGY
Fingerprint a sample, rank which summary fits, and write plots plus a PDF in Excel.
WhichStat turns a selected numeric range into a guided descriptive-statistics workflow without leaving Excel. It fingerprints the sample (type, skew, kurtosis, Tukey flags, grouping hints), then ranks which location and spread summaries this sample supports. Ranking follows a documented which-summary rule. The top row is the best supported summary among candidates on this sample — never “the true statistic.”
Built for students, analysts, and quality / industrial-engineering work. Analysis runs on your device — raw samples are not uploaded. Results write back to a WhichStat_Results sheet. A watermark-free PDF is always available; an optional footer can be turned off.
What you get (no account)
- Data fingerprint before any mean is treated as the story
- Ranked location and spread summaries, with the usual numbers still shown for comparison
- Statistic DNA, inline Learn (Student / Analyst / Formal), and nested teaching tooltips
- Histogram, box plot (grouped when you compare), and ECDF
- Named tables on WhichStat_Results, JSON export that strips the raw vector, and a client-side PDF
Works in Excel on Windows, Mac, and Excel on the web. The task pane is available in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, and Turkish.
WhichStat is educational statistical assistance. It is not a substitute for a statistician or licensed advice. It does not fit probability distributions (see WhichDist) and does not forecast series (see WhichForecast).
