Kinetic Dataflow Tool (KDT) connects Microsoft Excel directly to Epicor Kinetic ERP, giving users a fast, secure and familiar way to query, update and transact ERP data without leaving Excel.

Early Adopter Access: KDT is currently available free of charge for early adopters. This provides organisations with an opportunity to start using KDT, explore its capabilities and provide feedback while the product continues to develop. Please note that KDT is planned to become a paid application within the next few months, with pricing and licensing details to be announced before the transition.

KDT is designed for organisations that rely on Kinetic ERP and regularly work with operational data in spreadsheets. It is particularly useful for finance, supply chain, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, operations, data management and ERP administration teams that need to retrieve, review or maintain large volumes of Kinetic data efficiently.

Work with Kinetic data directly from Excel

Users can retrieve Kinetic ERP data using tables or Business Activity Queries (BAQs), then work with the results in Excel using the tools and processes they already know. Query results can also be converted directly into update templates, helping teams move quickly from data analysis to controlled data maintenance.

KDT supports multiple queries and update templates within the same workbook, allowing teams to consolidate related processes into a single, organised Excel file instead of maintaining numerous separate spreadsheets.

Securely update and transact with Kinetic ERP

KDT goes beyond data extraction. Authorised users can update or delete records and perform supported transactional processes directly from Excel while following Kinetic ERP business logic.

This includes transactional activities such as quantity adjustments, cost adjustments and inventory transfers, allowing organisations to perform high-volume ERP processes efficiently without bypassing the controls built into Kinetic.

Built around your existing Kinetic security

KDT respects the security already configured within your Kinetic environment, including user menu permissions and, where applicable, API scopes. Users only have access to the data and functionality they are authorised to use in Kinetic, removing the need to maintain a separate permissions model.

Multiple authentication methods are supported, including Basic authentication, Identity Provider (IDP) authentication and API Key access, helping organisations align KDT with their existing security policies.

KDT supports both cloud-hosted and on-premise Kinetic ERP environments. Users can also connect to multiple Kinetic instances from a single Excel workbook, making it easier to work across production, test or multiple company environments without repeatedly opening separate files or reconnecting Excel.

KDT processes updates in optimised batches, helping organisations complete large-scale data changes quickly and efficiently. When an update cannot be processed, KDT reports the relevant error directly against the affected row in Excel. Users can identify the problem, correct the data and reprocess only the relevant rows, simplifying error handling and reducing unnecessary rework.

Users can create update templates directly from query results or build templates from a selected Kinetic menu item and table. This provides flexibility for both advanced users working with BAQs and users who simply need a straightforward way to maintain specific ERP data.

Shareable and version-aware

KDT workbooks can be shared across teams while each user continues to authenticate individually, helping maintain user-level security and accountability.

KDT also reads Kinetic update methods dynamically rather than relying on functionality tied to a single ERP release. This helps reduce compatibility issues as Kinetic environments are upgraded.
