Read long contracts without losing your place. Contract Definitions turns the defined terms in an open Word document into a searchable task-pane index. Select a term to read its definition in context, jump to the source clause, and move through every detected occurrence.
Designed for contract review. Lawyers, legal teams, transaction professionals, and anyone working with definition-heavy documents can use Contract Definitions to:
- find defined terms using deterministic, rule-based parsing;
- search and pin important definitions;
- jump to a definition and navigate its uses throughout the document;
- refresh the index after the document changes; and
- add temporary inline annotations on supported Microsoft 365 versions.
Private by design. Contract analysis runs inside the Word add-in. Contract text is not uploaded to GUT Ventures, sent to an AI provider, used for analytics, or stored by the add-in. No account, subscription, API key, or additional purchase is required.
Contract Definitions supports English-language contracts and common definitions-section structures. Unusual or ambiguous drafting may not be detected. The add-in assists with navigation and review; it does not provide legal advice. Inline annotations require a Microsoft 365 version of Word that supports WordApi 1.7. Definition detection and navigation require WordApi 1.6.
