Search and analyze scientific literature with Scite Smart Citations
Scite is a research platform that helps researchers, clinicians, and analysts evaluate scientific claims by classifying every citation as Supporting, Contrasting, or Mentioning. Its Smart Citations engine reads the full text of citing articles and identifies whether each citation supports, disputes, or merely mentions the cited paper, enabling faster, evidence-based literature reviews. Scite MCP connects AI assistants and Microsoft 365 Copilot to Scite's content, which spans peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, preprints, patents, clinical trials, and research grants. Search results include Smart Citation counts, citation statements with surrounding context, and editorial notices such as retractions and expressions of concern. In addition to scholarly literature, the connector surfaces regulatory and safety content: FDA 510(k) medical device clearances and summaries, MHRA safety alerts, and FDA MAUDE adverse-event reports. This makes it useful for pharmaceutical research, medical affairs, regulatory review, competitive intelligence, and clinical evidence workflows in addition to general academic research. Scite is developed by scite.ai, part of Research Solutions. Full-text access to paywalled articles requires appropriate institutional entitlements or a Scite subscription; open-access content is fully covered. Sign-in is required and authentication is handled through OAuth so users authenticate once and reuse their tokens for subsequent queries. Responses may include AI-generated content; verify important information. To sign up, visit https://scite.ai
