Stromasys Charon-SSP SPARC hardware emulator
by Stromasys, Inc.
Just a moment, logging you in...
Stromasys Charon-SSP is a hardware emulator of SUN/ORACLE/Fujitsu SPARC systems of v8/v9 architecture. It allows running native Solaris code
Stromasys Charon-SSP belongs to a family of Charon emulators from Stromasys which extend the lives of mission-critical legacy applications by unfettering them from the underlying, past-end-of-life servers such as Sun/Oracle/Fujitsu SPARC (running SunOS/Solaris OS), DEC VAX (running VMS and Ultrix OS), DEC Alpha, (running VMS and Tru64 OS), DEC PDP11 (running RSX and RT11 OS), and PA-RISC (running HP-UX and MPe-iX OS) servers.
Charon-SSP replicates the SPARC hardware layer on an Azure VM. Charon-SSP is fully binary compatible with Sun4m, Sun4u and Sun4v SPARC hardware, including storage, networking, graphics, and I/O interfaces like serial lines and GPIB. The Charon-SSP virtual layer behaves as SPARC hardware and is compatible with SunOS, Solaris, and associated applications. Charon-SSP supports versions from SunOS 4.1 to Solaris 11.4. This compatibility allows applications to be quickly re-hosted in the Charon-SSP virtualized environment, bypassing software code conversion, changes, or replacement.
Solaris is "Bring-Your-Own-License"(BYOL) for Charon-SSP. Customers must make available their own Solaris ISO image for the initial install, after which, the original filesystems from the legacy SPARC system may be migrated. Please refer to our documentation below for more information about this process.
In addition, there is a BYOL version of Charon-SSP available. Contact us directly for more information. Please note that Stromasys requires customers to review their specific licensing agreements as they pertain to Sun/Oracle SPARC and Solaris.
